In order to further improve the lines of communication and to respond to the concerns between the National VA Council and you our members, I have established a National VA Council Briefing. This NVAC Briefing will bring you the latest news and developments within DVA and provide you with the current status of issues this Council is currently addressing. I believe that this NVAC Briefing will greatly enhance the way in which we communicate and the way in which we share new information, keeping you better informed.

The National Veterans Affairs Council (NVAC) of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFL-CIO) installed officers Wednesday night (November 14, 2007) at the 19th Triennial Training Convention at the Hilton Waikoloa Village, in Waikoloa, Hawaii.

The National Veterans Affairs Council is the largest and fastest growing Council within the American Federation of Government Employees and represents over 150,000 employees at the Department of Veterans Affairs facilities throughout the nation.  AFGE remains the largest union for government employees.  The Union has continued to build the voice for all VA employees; including professional and non-professional employees.

More than 500 delegates, alternates, members, and guests attended a week-long conference, which featured numerous workshops covering skills needed to represent members, as well as business meetings.  “Stronger Together” was the convention slogan this year.
