In order to further improve the lines of communication and to respond to the concerns between the National VA Council and you our members, I have established a National VA Council Briefing. This NVAC Briefing will bring you the latest news and developments within DVA and provide you with the current status of issues this Council is currently addressing. I believe that this NVAC Briefing will greatly enhance the way in which we communicate and the way in which we share new information, keeping you better informed.

: Hurricane Relief Teams - Police Officers~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The National VA Council (NVAC) has received a lot of questions and concerns from Police Officers around the country, regarding Hurricane Relief Teams.
The NVAC met with Mr. John Baffa, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Security and Law Enforcement, at our recent Labor Management Relations Meeting in Washington, DC. At this meeting he addressed some concerns that were brought to his attention.
Mr. Baffa reiterated over and over how proud he was of all the Police Officers that had volunteered their time and efforts in assisting in the Hurricane Relief areas.
Mr. Baffa also informed our group that the Police Officers would in fact, in addition to getting paid, would also receive Hazardous Duty Pay. Mr. Baffa stated that he has recently just signed off on this document. Please review the Hazardous Duty Pay (Article 28, Section 25), under our current Master Agreement for more information.
They are also looking to give a special contribution.
The NVAC will continue to follow-up on this issue and send you additional information as we receive it.
Thanks to all and keep up the good work!
