In
order to further improve the lines of communication and to respond to the
concerns between the National VA Council and you our members, I have
established a National VA Council Briefing. This NVAC Briefing will bring you
the latest news and developments within DVA and provide you with the current
status of issues this Council is currently addressing. I believe that this
NVAC Briefing will greatly enhance the way in which we communicate and the way
in which we share new information, keeping you better informed.

Sunday,
September 11th, will mark the 10th Anniversary of the
deadly terrorist attacks that took place on the World Trade Center, the
Pentagon and in rural Pennsylvania. On that Tuesday morning, 3,652 days
ago we stood frozen in time as we agonizingly watched in horror as innocent
victims perished. We all remember where we were and what we were doing,
as we stared in disbelief as this diabolical plan was moving forward and yet
at the time of the attacks there was little we could do but pray for our
country as a whole. It is marked as the greatest single-day loss of life
on American soil since the Battle of Antietam.
In
dedication to the 2,996 people who lost their lives as a result of the
attacks, Ground Zero continues with the memorial listing their names etched in
black granite, built to almost match the twin towers. American
flags will be flown at half-mast across the country. The nation will
pause for a moment of silence, a moment of remembrance.
On
behalf of the National VA Council, let us join the nation in honoring these
men and women, remembering their families, and our enormous loss as a country.
We will never forget our great nation and the unity that has been shared since
this tragic event.
