In
order to further improve the lines of communication and to respond to the
concerns between the National VA Council and you our members, I have
established a National VA Council Briefing. This NVAC Briefing will bring
you the latest news and developments within DVA and provide you with the
current status of issues this Council is currently addressing. I believe
that this NVAC Briefing will greatly enhance the way in which we communicate
and the way in which we share new information, keeping you better informed.

On
Monday, September 5th, we will be celebrating Labor Day.
For too many, this National Holiday marks the end of summer and the
beginning of fall. But it’s also a day to commemorate the
contributions of working people through history and the role of unions in
representing them.
It
is the working people of this nation who have built the roads, grown the
crops and manufactured the goods that have made the United States the
greatest country in the world. But it is labor that has won the
fundamental victories in areas such as the 8-hour day, safe working
conditions and fair pay that has allowed workers to succeed.
So
as you take that last plunge into the pool or grill that hamburger, be proud
that you are a member of the working class in America! But, be even
prouder that you are a union member and create a work environment where we
can provide services to “those who have borne the battle, and their
window, and their orphan.”
On
behalf of the entire National Veterans Affairs Council, I would like to
thank each and every one of you for your dedicated service to our veterans!
Have a safe and well deserved holiday.
