In order to further improve the lines of communication and to respond to the concerns between the National VA Council and you our members, I have established a National VA Council Briefing. This NVAC Briefing will bring you the latest news and developments within DVA and provide you with the current status of issues this Council is currently addressing. I believe that this NVAC Briefing will greatly enhance the way in which we communicate and the way in which we share new information, keeping you better informed.

In This Briefing:  Contract Negotiations Asheville, NC ~ Day 2

Today, Tuesday, June 26, 2007, is the second day of Contract Negotiations at the VAMC in Asheville, North Carolina.  We once again discussed Article 31, "Temporary, Part time and Probationary Employees”.  Human Resources, Ms. Bonnie Kerber informed us that Supervisors do not want the Union present when they counsel or meet with Employees.  This tells you the tone of negotiations today.

 

Local 0446 has been a great Host for this session.  Today’s observers were Bob Caldwell, President of Local 0446, Barbara Hudgins, Dianne Berry, Joann Harvin, Selma Norwood, Priscilla Ndiaye, and Sam Camp, Past Vice President of the National VA Council.
