In This Briefing: Memorial Day "Never Forget"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Memorial Day is more than just another three-day weekend saying goodbye to the end of winter and hello summer. The history of Memorial Day stretches all the way back to the Civil War, and it is an important reminder of those who died in service for this country and one holiday when the original meaning shouldn't be let go. Memorial Day is celebrated at Arlington National Cemetery with a ceremony in which an American flag is placed on each gravesite.
There's no need to take the fun out of Memorial Day weekend; families have established a time to come together. This long weekend is like a new breath of life waiting to be inhaled after a long winter, being kept inside due to the weather.
You probably have a family member or a friend, who has or is currently serving our country today. Many of our veterans are spending yet another year away from their families and friends to ensure our freedom. Like our forefathers who have served before us around the world in numerous campaigns, our Armed Forces are the best in the world and sacrifice is just part of the job.
Let us remember our many veterans who have sacrificed their lives in war so that others may be free. Let us renew our commitment to freedom; let us pray for the soldiers who are carrying on that mission today, and ask for a safe and speedy return.
