In order to further improve the lines of communication and to respond to the concerns between the National VA Council and you our members, I have established a National VA Council Briefing. This NVAC Briefing will bring you the latest news and developments within DVA and provide you with the current status of issues this Council is currently addressing. I believe that this NVAC Briefing will greatly enhance the way in which we communicate and the way in which we share new information, keeping you better informed.

In This Briefing: 3^rd Day of Contract Negotiations at the VAMC in Augusta, Georgia

Today is the 3^rd day of Contract Negotiations at the VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA.  This week has been fairly productive.  We have signed Article 47, “Surveillance”; Article 25, “Parking & Transportation”; and Article 24, “Official Travel”. 

We have amended Article 3, “Labor Management Cooperation” (formerly Partnership Article) to include the current Executive Order 13522; Labor Management Forums.  We also amended Article 5, “Labor Management Committee” to include additional representatives for the National VA Council. 

Observers this week have been Mr. Charles Day, Local President #217 and Mr. John Thornton, Executive Vice President.  We would like to thank Local #217 for their hospitality this week!
