order to further improve the lines of communication and to respond to the
concerns between the National VA Council and you our members, I have
established a National VA Council Briefing. This NVAC Briefing will bring
you the latest news and developments within DVA and provide you with the
current status of issues this Council is currently addressing. I believe
that this NVAC Briefing will greatly enhance the way in which we communicate
and the way in which we share new information, keeping you better informed.

Day of Contract Negotiations at the VAMC in Miami, Florida

Today is the 3rd
day of Contract Negotiations at the VAMC in Miami, Florida.
We have signed off on
Article 58, “Research Grants” and also Article 18, “Fitness for
Duty”. We are currently discussing Article 38, “Worker’s
Compensation”. Negotiations are going well this week and we expect
more articles to be signed off by the end of the week.
Observers today were
Local President of #515, GISELLE M. APONTE,
and Jennifer Turnbull. Local President Aponte and the Executive Board
of Local #515 have been exceptional hosts and we appreciate the support and
hospitality shown!
