order to further improve the lines of communication and to respond to the
concerns between the National VA Council and you our members, I have
established a National VA Council Briefing. This NVAC Briefing will bring you
the latest news and developments within DVA and provide you with the current
status of issues this Council is currently addressing. I believe that this
NVAC Briefing will greatly enhance the way in which we communicate and the way
in which we share new information, keeping you better informed.

AFGE Responds to Crisis
in Haiti
(WASHINGTON) – The
American Federation of Government Employees today responded to the crisis in
Haiti generated by an earthquake that devastated the country this week.
“We are deeply saddened by
the unspeakable tragedy in Haiti and we offer our deepest sympathies to its
people,” said John Gage, AFGE national president. “America’s working
families, federal workers, and the labor community extends its complete
support towards the recovery efforts.”
AFGE has joined with others in
the labor community in encouraging its members to contribute financial
assistance to those in need via the Haiti Earthquake Emergency Fund set up by
the AFL-CIO’s
Solidarity Center.
AFGE members include those
federal employees who will be providing direct assistance to the Haitian
people in the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Agency for International
Development, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
